Illinois Volunteer Money Management Program 
This program offers money management service to help low income senior adults, age
60 and older, or persons with disabilities that have been victims of exploitation or
other forms of abuse. It helps those who have difficulty budgeting, paying routine bills
and keeping track of financial matters. The program’s goal is to promote and prolong
independent living for individuals who are at risk of losing their independence due to
an inability to manage their financial affairs. The program uses trained and screened
adult volunteers to assist individuals who do not have friends or relatives to help.
Eligibility guidelines apply; there is no cost to eligible seniors.

Senior Companions provide weekly friendly visits and companionship to seniors who are homebound or socially isolated. Senior Companions also assist with occasional transportation, daily tasks and provide respite care for family caregivers.

Volunteers offer companionship through friendly in-person visits, virtual check-ins, and/or regular telephone calls. By building meaningful connections, volunteers help older adults feel supported, valued, and more connected to their community. The program is free to participant and serves people of all beliefs.

 Benefits for Volunteers include:

·        Build a friendly relationship with older adults over the phone

·        Increase in community engagement

·        Ongoing skill development

·        Able to make a difference from the comfort of your own home


Successful Volunteers:

·        Must be 18 years or older

·        Must be able to pass a background check

·        Have strong communication skills

·        Enjoy socializing with others

·        Are available to complete 1 visit and 1 call (approximately 95 minutes per week,) per client
